Day 2 - Broadhaven & Fishguard

Day 2 - thinking what awaits us out in the field there~our first stop was broadhaven. It was cloudy though by the time we reached there. And we had a new task which was to draw a profile of the structures. So working there, with some things you have to look out for - barnacles, sea weeds and algae. It was cold as well and guess what, we had to do it quickly since the tides were coming in...and to cut the story short, i didnt manage to finish it since we were asked to 'escape' as soon as possible since the tides were coming in already so we had to be fast if we dont want to be cut off by the tides. I call it "sweet escape"

since the route we had taken already being cut off by the tides, we had to climb through the rocks and on your way down, it was so slippery that one of my colleagues fell down but she's okay though..i think i was almost fell too..

next stop was fishguard and we had our lunch earlier than yesterday at this harbour..fishguard, well it was more tiring than st.David since the interdistances between localities are quite far actually...especially the pillow basalts..we had to climb up and down some hills before we reach them. And we did a basic sedimentary log in one of the localities..surrounded by the ocean, it was great and cold as well. Observed some white rocks on our way up which were dolerite if im not mistaken..by the time we reach the pillow basatls, we had to climb down through the rocks, well i almost decided not to do it..but letting my phobia gets me wont make me good so yeah i made it ^^ pillow basalts were quite interesting though since there were some green layers surrounding them which i though were olivine due to the igneous nature..but Maggie told me they were quartz(metamorphosed perhaps due to the green colour?) produced when sediments got deposited on top of the pillow basalts and then trapped by incoming layers of lava.

it was more tiring compared to day 1~but we learned a lot too. And i did some hikings which i think i wont do if im not forced to X) this fieldtrip contributes to one of our modules which is 'introduction to field geology' so 7 days of fieldtrip - for one module, how cruel is that? joking.
